Promotion of the KAZRC Code in the mining industry of Kazakhstan
The KAZRC Code was put into effect by the Code “On Subsoil and Subsoil Use” in 2018. During this period, the Geology Committee accepted over 130 reports developed according to the KAZRC code with the inclusion of mineral resources and mineral reserves on the balance sheet. These reports were prepared by 50 PONEN Competent Persons. A number of the largest subsoil users in Kazakhstan have already completely switched to KAZRC reporting. The number of PONEN members over the past 12 months has increased 1.3 times and amounts to 430 people. Taking into account the amendments to the Code “On Subsoil and Subsoil Use”, adopted on January 1, 2024, the application of the KAZRC Code has become mandatory for all exploration licenses, and for production contracts and licenses it is at the discretion of the subsoil user.
