Mike Beare is a mining industry leader with 32 years of international experience, He is an accomplished mining engineer and project manager skilled in managing and delivering complex multi-disciplinary technical projects across a range of commodities. These technical projects are often scoping studies, preliminary feasibility studies and feasibility studies in accordance with international standards but also include due diligence reviews. Mike has managed a total of 44 feasibility studies during his 20 years at SRK. These have been predominantly completed for gold and base metals projects with a strong focus on Africa, Europe and Central Asia. The total capital cost of these projects is in excess of USD20 billion, a large part of which is the Almalyk United Mine in Uzbekistan.
A key focus for Mike in recent has been establishment of the SRK Kazakhstan practice which he built into a thriving practice employing over 60 staff. Mike’s technical expertise includes: large scale feasibility studies, underground mine design and scheduling; managing other technical disciplines such as geotechnical, geology, hydrogeology, mining, processing, tailings, geochemistry and environmental; financial modelling. He has worked on base, precious-metal, gemstone, uranium, diamond and industrial mineral projects throughout Europe, CIS, Africa, India and the Americas. Another key area of focus has been business improvement having worked with McKinsey Consultants while working for Barrick Gold. Mike is currently based in Almaty where he operates a rapidly expanding consultancy business.
