Companies & Organisations “Ridder-Polymetal” plans to extract polymetallic and copper-bearing ores at the Strezhansky deposit. The asset, for which the subsoil user obtained a license in 2017, is located in the East Kazakhstan region. Underground mining at the Strezhansky deposit is expected to continue until 2038. The mining plan has been published on Kazakhstan’s Unified Environmental Portal. Public hearings on the project will take place on March 11, 2024. Most likely, development of the deposit will begin this year after coordination with environmentalists and the public. The reserves of the site were included in the state balance in 2016. The balance reserves of ore amount to 4,831 thousand tons, while off-balance reserves amount to 2,362 thousand tons. The deposit contains the following valuable components for extraction: copper (85.3 thousand tons), zinc (212.4 thousand tons), lead (38 thousand tons), gold (2.63 tons), silver (268.1 tons), cadmium (787.8 tons), and bismuth (514.4 tons). By the second year of operation of the mine, the company aims to achieve a productivity of 240 thousand tons, and by the fifth year, 360 thousand tons of ore per year. The “Ridder-Polymetal” website notes that the project will enable the supply of raw materials to the ore processing plant in Altai, the capacity of which is being reduced due to the depletion of local deposits.
